Week 4

Hazel - OMG   this week sucks...... It was my birthday week and I lost 0 pounds but I did not gain any so I guess it works out I am sooo disappointed.. I tell you what losing weight is such a never-ending battle... But I plan to get back on it..

Cross your fingers for me... Plan to do better in week 5

Aimee – Ok... I hate to admit this but pounds lost this week: 0, zip, nada. I am happy I did not gain though. My exercise routine was almost non-existent. I‘ll be doing extra time on the workout front. I am proud that I have increased my water intake. I not a fan. I cut soda ages ago and have been trying to increase how much water I drink by only stocking it in the fridge. This has only led me to not drink much of anything. Lol. Next week we will improved.

Week 3

Hazel: Weighed myself this morning and the scale said 256.3 I cannot believe it another 5 pounds Open-mouthed. I have to admit I Hate Baring teeth exercising but I do it... I have to motivate myself and just say "DO IT" once I get started it is not so bad, I have to constantly remind myself that I am making a lifestyle change and keep my mind on the goal. Candy has started to emerge at work but I have held strong. LOL not easy.  Cooking meals that I can eat and my family will enjoy has been a challenge but they have been very supportive. So all in all it has been a challenging week but with good results.  Good Luck everyone keep up the good work.

Aimee: I did better & worse this week. I kicked up the exercising up a notch but was naughty Embarrassedwhen it came down to food choices when I went out. My weight loss for this week is 1lb. I refuse to be disappointed it’s a still a loss. Hazel and I got together for a family style upper body workout. It was so much fun. Talk about cardio... it was exhausting. I see attached photos for a visual. lol

Week 2 Recap

Hazel: Ok so I made it through the week. I did pretty good I must say... I lost 4 pounds!

I drank lots of water and brought in my lunch from work. I found that preplanning what I am going to eat really works.

I did not exercise much this week but that was because I was busy concentrating on my food. I did however find a coworker to walk with on my fifteen minute breaks. She is now inspired and has started to diet and we may even start walking for half an hour during our lunch time.  That is all for now attached you will find a picture of the scale with my new weight.

Aimee: Week 2 was much better. I got my food in order and I’m making healthier choices at work. I didn’t exercise as much as I wanted but I got some time in. I need to kick up the exercise up a notch. Hazel and I plan on meeting up at least once a week to do some activities together. The outcome for this week... 3 pounds! YAY!

Week 1 Update

Hazel: So I have a lot of coworkers who have said their New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. Therefore this week has been easy to stick to my no sweet policy.  All the candy and sweet temptations have disappeared, but I know this won’t be for long. I went shopping and brought in some healthy snacks to munch on. I haven’t told anyone at work that Aimee and I have joined in the challenge. It seems to me when you tell people you are dieting they come out the wood work to tempt you. I won’t weigh myself till next week. Aimee and I have read been reading the healthy dieting tips provided by the web site and have included them in our food choices.  Aimee came over to my home with some other friends battled it out over dance revolution I thought I would fall out with all that jumping who knew I could get a work out from that. LOL .. On Sunday I went out with my husband and played tennis !OMG!  Will he ever understand I cannot move as fast as he does? I felt like one of the contestants on their first day. We played for about 1hr and 45 minutes…I cannot wait to be in better shape and kick his butt.

Aimee: This week started out rough.  Technically I didn’t start until the 3rd, but that’s ok. I think I’m on the right track now. I started by getting rid of the temptations around the house (chips, chocolate, etc.). It gets difficult when I’m in the house by myself. I get bored and seek comfort of food. I usually try to get out of the house to get moving but unfortunately I have to do homework. I am stocking the fridge with carrots and apples to help with the munchies. Exercise this week was only done once. Oops. I would blame it on the flu I had but that would be a copout. I realize this is something I need to increase. I plan on working at walking on breaks at work and increasing overall activity. Next week will be better!

Plan for Success

268Logo

Hazel and I met about three years ago when we were working for the same company. Die-hard friends now we’re always looking for easy, fun, or interesting ways to get fit. When we saw the opportunity to join The Biggest Loser: Million Pound Match-Up; we saw this as an opportunity to put it to the test. We do not have the resources to pay for a personal trainer, or join an expensive weight loss program. We’re going to find inexpensive (or better yet free) ways to shed the pounds.  The plan is to adopt a healthy style of living in our everyday lives. We don’t want to make the same mistakes we’ve made in the past which are to start a diet that changes everything we do in such a drastic way that after two days we are either worn out or we can’t bear to eat what the diet recommends.

Our first step is change the way we eat. As Latinas we love to eat and in the past this has presented a problem.  Latin cuisine usually revolves around rice, flour, and fried foods, all high in bad carbs and or high fat content. We plan in tackling this challenge with food planning. The second step is the most fun! Exercise. YAY! While I am not fond of traditional exercise such as running, elliptical machines, or work-out videos; Hazel can take them and run with it.

Why we should win.....

We deserve to win because we are strong, intelligent, confident Latinas who have high self esteem and love life.  Hazel and I see this challenge as a Win/Win situation if we win FANTASTIC we will be out of our minds with joy but even if we don’t we know we will have won in other ways we will be healthier and on our way to a better health.  We talked to some other friends about the challenge and immediately we heard; “Are you crazy posting your fat for the world to see. No way!” We saw it as a way to self reflect and show that if you truly dedicate yourself anything can be accomplished.  Many of our friends have opted for surgery to lose weight and for some that may be their only option but we have been so inspired by the show and we want to accomplish weight loss naturally.  As stated before we don’t have the money for a trainer, a gym, or a nutritionist BUT with the support of our families, the inspiration of the BIGGEST Loser's contestants and all the online tools and tips. We feel ready for battle with an entire armada behind us for support.  Live well, Love much, Laugh often is what we plan to do for many, many, years and this can only be accomplished by healthy living.
